Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Panadol, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home but the burglar can sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion, his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame and I'm A Victim.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not join the majority and do nothing.

Well, I didn't get the position with the NAAFI, and I also didn't get a receptionist/admin job with a Legal firm. And as previously stated I didn't get that job with T-Mobile.
Felt really down when I didn't get that NAAFI job, but life goes on.
Feeling kinda down, despite the reciept of a couple of books that I've been waiting for (Terry Pratchett's The Wintersmith, arrived yesterday and The Complete Chronicles of Conan Centenary Edition by Robert E Howard arrived today) and finding a DVD of a TV Docudrama called The Last Dragon for dirt cheap.
Have been playing Just Cause on the PS2 most of yesterday which is cool, kind of like GTA but with a parachute/grapplegun thing and much more blowing shit up. Plus helicopters and Jets and stuff. It's fun, but it's no match for social interaction or hugs. Meh!

Well, I heard back from the people at T-Mobile who I interviewed with on the 5th of September (actually I heard from them last week, but am only just updating!) and I didn't get that job. I also went to an 'Assessment Day' last Friday (the erm... 8th) and I didn't get a job with Fleet Support Group either.
However, today I went off to another interview for a position with the NAAFI (Navy.Army.Air Force.Institute) as they were advertising for a store supervisor. Anyway the interview seemed to do well and I should know in the next 10 days at the outside. The position also gives me the option of moving out of home and into accommodation on camp, which could also see me get moved around the country or even to Germany.... However I have to get the job first, so cross things for me (fingers, toes etc..)
Other stuff that's been happenning includes the fact that I've now taken over the monthly newsletter for our gaming group. It's tastefully named The Monthly Grunt!!

Feeling crappy. Have got a nose/throat infection thing going on. Headache now too. Full of snot and phlegm (attractive no?!) and generally feeling lousy this afternoon. And Happiest of Joys I have to go to work tomorrow. 6 hours as an alligator whilst feeling leaden limbed.... Hope I survive.... maybe I should fill the camelbak with Lemsip!!!

Okay, well over this weeekend I recieved a phone call from an agency who had seen my CV on monster and wanted to put me forwards for a position in Devizes. They contacted me again this morning and they've got my cv and have sent it on to the employer (Total Butler - an oil company).
I also had a telephone interview today with T-Mobile which went well enough for them to want to set up a proper face to face interview some time next week. So things are looking sort of positive right now on the job seeking front.
Weekend news... played BloodBowl again on Sunday, drew the match 1-1 was very close and I could've lost very easily if it hadn't been for the pouring rain making the ball slippery and affecting catching.
